Curtis Anthony Smith Jr., 84, of Bakersfield, California, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Holiday Manor Assisted Living Facility. Born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to Margaret Wicker and Curtis Anthony Smith Sr.
He left home at an early age and was raised in foster homes and orphanages. After high school Curtis enlisted in the United States Army in 1954 and was given an Honorable Discharge.
Curtis was a passionate man who enjoyed preaching, barbering, and prison ministry. Sometime after he served in the United States Army, he moved from Chicago, to Atlanta, and finally settling in Bakersfield Ca. During his life, Curtis served as the Senior Manager for three restaurants in Chicago, was the owner of multiple barber shops in Bakersfield and served as the prison ministry leader for several years.
His life was full. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, bowling, traveling, playing bridge, and watching TV. He especially loved adding cheese to most of his meals.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister, Tanya Perez (Tony).
He leaves to mourn his son Jordan Lee Davis of Atlanta, Ga, and two stepdaughters: Eboni Davis of Atlanta Ga, Monique Han (Glen) of Bakersfield, Ca. and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
